Handler Notes
Overall Progress Marge had a positive first day of training. She is attentive and responds well when given instructions. Compared to Homer, Marge is currently easier to handle and shows a better understanding of basic commands. She responds particularly well to her name and “sit” command, which gives us a good foundation to build on throughout the week. Socialisation Marge and Homer are both very excited when they see people. Continued exposure to different people and environments, together with regular walks and training, will help them become calmer and more confident when encountering new surroundings. Leash Walking Marge currently pulls on the leash, which is expected on the first day. Our focus will be on teaching her to walk calmly, remain responsive to her handler, and understand that pulling will not get her where she wants to go. Fetch & Recall Marge enjoys playing with the ball but does not yet consistently return the ball to the handler. We will begin working on fetch, returning the ball, and engaging with the handler during play. Exercise & Stamina Marge gets tired relatively quickly at this stage. Regular, controlled exercise will help gradually improve her fitness, stamina and ability to focus for longer periods. Focus for Day 2 Tomorrow we will continue building on today’s progress and work on: * Sit command – improving reliability and response. * Stay command – introducing and building duration. * Name response – strengthening her focus and attention on the handler. * Leash walking – working on calm, responsive walking with less pulling. * Ball work – teaching Marge to return the ball to the handler. * Recall – encouraging her to come back when called. * Impulse control – helping her remain calmer and more focused around people. * Socialisation – controlled exposure to people and her surroundings. * Exercise – gradually building stamina while keeping sessions positive and manageable. Marge has made a good start on Day 1 and is showing that she is responsive and willing to learn. We will continue reinforcing these behaviours tomorrow and gradually increase the level of difficulty as she progresses.Photos & Videos — Day 1
